Beverly:

Hello, friends. Welcome back to the Spark Ignite Your Marketing Podcast. I'm your host, Beverly Cornell, here to celebrate a very special milestone with you all. We are marking 13 years of BC Associates Marketing, and I want to take this time to reflect on this journey, the lessons, and the moments that brought us right here. I have been so incredibly lucky to watch BC and Associates grow from a solo freelancing adventure to a full team working to bring brand magic to purpose driven entrepreneurs. Today, we'll talk about the values that have guided us honor dynamic and fusion and the gratitude that I feel for everyone who has been part of this path. So settle in and let's celebrate together. When I started BC and associates marketing, it was truly a leap of faith. My husband was active duty army. So our life was on the move, which meant my career had to be as flexible as his deployments and our relocations. So I began freelancing with just my laptop and a deep desire to make an impact, knowing that wherever we went, I could take my work with me. Those early days were all about building trust one client at a time. It was just me learning as I went, figuring it all out, how to bring value and hopefully a little magic to each brand. Looking back, I see the spark was always there, even when I didn't know what the business would grow into. The magic of those early years was in how word of mouth carried me forward. I was so fortunate to have clients who trusted me and that trust led to referrals one after another. And before I knew it, I wasn't just a solo freelancer anymore. I had the beginnings of a small team and let me tell you, learning to be a boss was no small feat. I thought if I just work hard enough, it'll all work out. But managing people is a whole new world. There were days I doubted myself and I made, oh my gosh, a lot of mistakes. I wasn't the best boss yet and I was still finding my way as a marketer too, but I kept learning and bit by bit growing into a role that felt like a true calling. One of the biggest shifts for BC and Associates happened just a few years ago. Up until then, I had been doing everything under my name, beverlycornell. com, but it became clear that it was no longer just me. I had an amazing team beside me. I realized that it was time to honor their contribution to make this business something we could all feel a part of. And so BC and Associates Marketing was born. This shift wasn't just about a name. It was about truly embracing the idea of collaboration, the beauty of building something together. I started to see that my role was evolving from just doing the work to helping others find their spark within our work. I am so grateful for that transformation. It taught me the importance of building something. bigger than myself, but with growth comes growing pains. And I'd be lying if I said there weren't tough moments. About a year ago, we hit a really rough patch back in 2000 and 23, we lost a few key clients in just a matter of weeks. And I'll be honest. It stung. I was devastated. I found myself questioning everything. Was I good enough? Was my team doing something wrong? Was I even meant to do this work? Looking back, I realized that those losses were actually The biggest gifts in disguise. They created space for us to reflect on who we really wanted to serve, who we felt we aligned with, and who would benefit most from the magic that we could offer. I remember sitting down and just writing, journaling, and realizing that we needed to work with clients who shared our values. who were also in this for more than just business. Those weeks of uncertainty turned into a time of clarity, a reminder of why I started this business and what I wanted this company to stand for. One of the most meaningful parts of this journey has been connecting with our core values. We began to ask, what do we stand for? What is at the heart of our work? Words like honor. Dynamic, fusion kept coming up and over time they became the pillars of everything that we do. Honor guides us to approach every client and team member with respect, integrity, ensuring we truly listen and understand before we act. Dynamic reflects our commitment to growth and adaptability, always finding new ways. To serve our clients in a very fast changing world. And fusion is about blending creativity, strategy, and each client's unique voice with marketing to bringing their true essence to life. These values are not just words. They are. An integral part of who we are. They keep us grounded and inspired and intentional in every single thing that we do. I am so grateful for how they've shaped our work and the relationships over the years. One of the biggest lessons I've learned on this journey is that the wisdom we share with clients sometimes needs to come right back at us. I remember a pivotal moment during a call with the client. I was helping them clarify their mission, encouraging them to really embrace their purpose. And then it hit me. I needed to follow my own advice. It was time to awaken my own brand magic to let my work reflect the joy, the passion and the deep purpose that got me here in the first place. That Realization led me to, write my book, Marketing for Entrepreneurs, A Quick Guide to Spark and Ignite Your Marketing, in seven days And to launch this podcast, I felt truly alive again. And the clarity that came from that decision has been such a blessing. It's life changing for both my professional and personal life. Now, each day feels aligned with my why, and I get to wake up and do the work that makes my soul sing. One of the most freeing decisions I have made was learning to say the word no. It's so easy to want to help everyone, but not every client is the right fit. I have learned that we're at our best when we work with people who resonate with our values, who are purpose driven, and who have a mission that lights the way. These are the clients we can serve with all of our hearts, and it's a joy to see their transformation as they uncover their own brand magic. Saying no is not easy, but it's so important. It's allowed us to create space for clients who genuinely appreciate the journey, who trust us to help them grow. And in turn, that's helped me find peace and focus, knowing we're working with the people who value what we bring. As I sit here reflecting on these last 13 years, I am overwhelmed with gratitude. Every single step, every single challenge, every single client has taught me something. I'm grateful for the trust that our clients have placed in us. For the support of my team, they have taught me so much as well. And for every moment that has brought us to where we are today. Looking back, it's amazing to see how much has changed. I have grown from a freelancer with a laptop to leading a team with a mission, we've gone from just doing marketing to helping clients uncover and awaken their brand magic, instilling confidence and purpose, seeing dreams that are actually possible and bringing it to life. And I'm so grateful for every lesson every late night and every spark of inspiration that has brought us here to this exact moment. As we celebrate 13 years, my heart is full. I am filled with appreciation for all of you have been part of this journey, whether you're a client, a listener, or just someone who's following along. Thank you for being here. Every message, every word of encouragement, every bit of feedback has meant the world.
